Texas Hold'em, the insights
Texas hold em gained huge popularity mainly because of its recent TV broadcasting and the possibility to play online. With the advent of the online poker room, anybody had the chance to play with other players around the globe, in complete anonimity and home confort. Though this is not an easy game, and you need lot of experience and talent to really master the game. It seems an easy game: just 2 card drawn to you and 5 on the board. Texas hold em is much more then that. I requires understanding of people behaviour (also online), and way of playing. You have to adact to other's moves, and still try to impose your game
Maths is important in poker: an experienced player knows with a quick look at his 2 cards what will be the winning move to do preflop, after the flop and later on, calculating the outs and comparing to pot size and hands to be called ,raised and eventually folded. Reading opponents hand is a gift that will eventually come later, with the time. The knowledge of probabilities though is the base that distinguish good and bad players.
A good starting point would be reading books on poker then starting playing on low stakes tourneys. You will start gradually to get a "grip" of the game.
Unfortunately, playing on low stakes games will teach you the game up to a certain point. You will learn certainly more climbing the ladder of quality. This "learning curve" will possibly mean losses. So be prepared to learn at your own expenses! Some good books would be surely more affordable.
Then you will adjust your game according to your character, aggressive ,conservative and tight or somewhere in the middle. Never forget that you are NEVER SURE that you will win the hand unless you have the nuts (best possible hand). Good luck at the tables we wish you to get often... a fullnut...
